Diners gathered at trendy Soho in Solaris Mont Kiara recently for the latest Expat Wine Dinner at Michelangelo’s, the suburban counterpart to the restaurant’s well-known Pavilion location. With a lovely array of wines on hand throughout the evening to complement an outstanding meal, the mood was festive and nobody left hungry. Canapés of vegetable bruschetta and gorgonzola cheese with apricots were passed around along with a crisp Eagle Ridge Sauvignon Blanc, heralding an impressive Italian meal to come. Once seated, guests started off with a delicious portobello mushroom with caramelized pears, followed up with a piping hot potato and leek soup. For the entrée, diners could choose from four options, including a papardelle pasta with lamb ragu, Sicilian-style red snapper, Black Angus beef ribeye steak, or a tender chicken breast in white wine sauce, each dish served with accompanying side dishes, and paired with the appropiate Eagle Ridge wine – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Chardonnay. With all the different options, there was plenty of sharing going on, and diners were delighted with the outstanding quality and flavours of the dishes presented, regardless of which entrée they chose. Finally, dessert was served, a traditional Italian cannoli, and with plenty of wine flowing to complement the meal’s sweet ending, it proved to be yet another enjoyable Expat Wine Dinner.
