Sometime in the year 2004, radios and MTV begin airing a song called “She Will be Loved”, by a band called Maroon 5. A song with simple yet heartfelt lyrics, and an easy to sing-along to tune. No one, not even the band members of Maroon 5 expected that song to become the latest craze, but it did.
Upon its release, the single peaked at No.5 in America, and to date has been downloaded 2,178,000 times, according to Wikipedia. The song was in fact, the third single to be released from the band’s debut album – released in 2002 – Songs About Jane. The first and second single, “Harder to Breathe” and “This Love” were popular hits upon released, but it was “She Will Be Loved” that launched Maroon 5 into the stratosphere.
It wasn’t long after Songs About Jane become a success, that the band released their second album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, worldwide in May 2007. The number one single from that album, “Makes Me Wonder” was aired on radio, 27 March, 2007, and debuted at No. 84 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the first week of May 2007, the single shot to No.1. At that time, it was the biggest jump for a single in history.
The next album released, Hands All Over (in 2010) featured two hit singles “Misery” (the music video that followed was a little painful to watch) and “Moves Like Jagger” (featuring Christina Aguilera). Both singles topped various music charts around the world.
Early this year, the band released their fourth album, Overexposed, with the hit single “Payphone”, featuring Wiz Khalifa. With the release of a new album comes a tour to promote and support the album, hence, come 20 September 2012, Maroon 5 will be performing in Kuala Lumpur, for the Malaysian leg of their Overexposed Tour!
Come rain or shine, the band will definitely thrill their Malaysian fans with their infectious melodies and lyrics. After all, this is a band that shot to stardom with a simple song, and now has three Grammy Awards, and numerous other awards and recognition from the industry.
