Emirates Airline will further strengthen ties between Malaysia and the UAE when it increases its flight frequency between Dubai and Kuala Lumpur.
Beginning 3 December 2012, the airline will increase the number of flights on the Dubai-Kuala Lumpur route from three times daily currently to 25 times a week, increasing to 26 times a week from 1February 2013, adding an extra 2,370 seats per week between Dubai and Kuala Lumpur.
According to Kavin Martinus, Country Manager for Emirates in Malaysia, this increase in frequency follows strong and increasing demand for flights from passengers. He said, “In recent years, Malaysia has grown to become a leading destination for business and leisure travellers from the Middle East and Europe. We are also seeing a healthy growth of the outbound tourism market as Malaysians increasingly embark on overseas holidays.”
Emirates will introduce an extra four flights a week to Kuala Lumpur from Dubai starting 3 December on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with the flight on a Wednesday beginning on 6 February 2013.
The new service EK344, operated by an Airbus A330-200, will depart Dubai at 9.45pm (local time) and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 8.50am the following day. The return flight, EK345 departs Kuala Lumpur at 11.00am and will arrive in Dubai at 2.30pm.
In 2009, the airline increased its flight frequency to 14 flights weekly. A year later, it increased the number of flights to 21 weekly flights and also inaugurated its Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne non-stop service, offering a daily connection between the two cities.
In January this year, Emirates created aviation history when it commenced its flagship Airbus A380 flight into KLIA, becoming the first airline to operate a scheduled A380 flight into the country.
