Malaysia continues to be in the top 10 most-visited countries in the world, and tourist arrivals reached a new high in 2012, surpassing 25 million visitors for the first time with receipts exceeding RM60 billion. (It’s hard to believe that just 15 years ago, Malaysia attracted less than 6 million overseas visitors.)
The top visitors continued to be Singaporeans, followed by Indonesia, China, and Thailand. Arrivals from China have been growing steadily every year as the country has been liberalising rules for overseas travel for Chinese combined with some strong marketing programmes in that country.
