On Monday, 6 May 2013, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took his oath of office as Prime Minister of Malaysia, before the King of Malaysia, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, at the Istana Negara. The Queen of Malaysia, the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah Hamidon was also present.
Taking his oath as Prime Minister of Malaysia for the second time, Najib repeated history as it was the same King who witnessed the oath taken by his father, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, as prime minister back in 1970. Najib’s father, Tun Abdul Razak, was Malaysia’s second prime minister.
