Get To Know Malaysia's New Cabinet Ministers

The list of new Cabinet ministers was announced yesterday, 15 May 2013, by Prime Minister Datuk Seri  Najib Razak. Earlier in the day – before making the announcement – Najib had an audience with the King,  the Yang di Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah at the palace (Istana Negara), to seek consent for his new cabinet line-up.

Below is the complete list of ministers and deputy ministers in his new Cabinet. The new list is a mix of new and old faces.

Before the dissolution of parliament (3 April), the cabinet had 28 ministers handling 25 ministries.

The highlight of this new cabinet is the merger of the Education and the Higher Education Ministries. It is now known as the Ministry of Education and Higher Learning.

There are altogether five new faces in the cabinet.

All appointed ministers and deputy ministers will be sworn in at the Istana Negara at 9.30am, today.
