While expats rave about the joys of Asian cuisine in Malaysia, there is always space in the heart for a wonderful, cosy Italian restaurant where meals are tasty and the welcome is warm. This is just what attendees of the March Wine Dinner enjoyed when they arrived at DV Ristorante Pizzeria, and the crowd chatted happily as pre-dinner bites of Smoked Salmon canapés and Tomato Bruschetta made the rounds.
With appetites suitably whetted, guests eagerly took their places to begin the meal, which opened with a selection of three starters – Black Truffle Bruschetta, Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallop with Flying Fish Roe, and Baby Squid in Basil Oil – accompanied by a glass of Mionetto Prosecco Brut NV.
No Italian meal is complete without pasta, and the Spaghetti alla Marinara with Oven Baked King Prawn was served with a glass of Marco Felluga Pinot Grigio Mongris 2011 and enjoyed by all. Guests then had the unenviable task of deciding between two tempting main courses, a Rack of Lamb served with Raisin Reduction and a glass of Fanti Rosso di Montalcino 2010, or a continuation of the seafood theme with a Grilled Seabass with Salsa Rossa and Baby Potatoes and a glass of Marco Felluga Sauvignon 2011.
No matter which main was selected, eaters were enamoured and anticipated the sweet ending that would round off the restaurant’s offerings. The Panna Cotta with Mixed Berry Coulis did not disappoint, and this traditional Italian treat was washed down with a glass of G.D. Vajra Moscato d’Asti 2012 and to conclude a superb and delicious evening!
