As a long-popular destination for families in the Klang Valley area, Thistle Port Dickson Resort has embarked on a unique and perhaps trend-setting project to give children a direct voice in guiding the resort’s offerings for kids.
A provisional advisory board called Kids in Charge! will comprise 10 kids from 7 to 12 years old sitting on a board that meets to deliberate and suggest fun activities just for kids that can be implemented at Thistle Resorts & Hotels.
To that end, Thistle Port Dickson Resort is on the lookout for kids in East and West Malaysia who are keen to be part of this exciting programme. Expat kids are welcome, too. The launch was recently held in Petaling Jaya in conjunction with Sri Lankan Airlines and dozens of underprivileged children were invited to be part of the event.
Kids interested in participating just need to download the entry form (or get their parents to do so) from Thistle’s website, answer three questions, and obtain the consent of their parents/guardians to participate by way of their signature on the form.
All entries received will be reviewed by a panel of six judges and narrowed down to 10 finalists who will be inducted into the board. The 10 board members will each be provided with four 3D/2N stays for a family of four at Thistle Port Dickson – at four board meetings during each visit over four months, the Kids in Charge! board will meet to discuss ideas. Board members will receive a special “creative kit,” complete with drawing tools, sketch pad, a Thistle T-shirt, a cap, suit, and tie, amongst other items.
Each member will have to propose an original idea towards enhancing kids’ experiences at the hotel, and creatively discuss the implementation of these ideas. At the end of the four months, the board member with the most creative idea and best overall performance, as determined by the panel, will be rewarded with a 6D/5N stay at the Thistle London for a family of four, including return air tickets, courtesy of Sri Lankan Airlines.
Entries for Kids In Charge! will be accepted until July 31, 2013. Interested participants may download the entry form from Thistle’s website at www.thistle.com/portdickson. Entry forms will also be distributed to international and local schools around the country, to encourage as many kids as possible to participate.
