The Genting Group will be closing its present outdoor theme park on 1st September 2013, to begin work on building a 20th Century Fox theme park. This new theme park will become the first ever 20th Century Fox theme park in the world!
Investing around RM400 million in this new project, the theme park by 20th Century Fox (famous for award-winning blockbuster films such as Avatar, Star Wars, X-Men, Predator and more) will feature 25 movie-based rides and attractions. Fans will have to wait awhile though as the park will only open in 2016.
According to Genting Malaysia Berhad Chairman, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, this partnership with 20th Century Fox would make Resorts World Genting one of the world’s top holiday destinations. He also said that the theme park project was part of Resort World Genting’s refurbishment programme – costing RM3 billion – which will include the construction of an additional 1,300 hotel rooms adjoining the First World Hotel.
Jeffrey Godsick, consumer products president of 20th Century Fox, said: “This theme park marks the launch of our global location based entertainment strategy.”
