It was a soulful evening at the May Wine Dinner as Morganfield’s laid on some serious soul food from the American South to accompany a selection of fine wines and ensure that everyone who joined us at Pavilion had an satisfying evening of food and fun!
A Luis Felipe Edward Sauvignon Blanc was the first glass to hand as the food began to arrive, and the meal opened with some Chicken Soup for the Soul before a Porky Pumpkin Salad offered a bacon bite to accompany the glass of Peter Lehmann Barossa Art Riesling that was poured by the patient staff.
A tempting trio offered a choice for the main course, and as Morganfield’s is known for its Sticky Bones, it is little surprise that many diners opted for a platter of slow-cooked hickory-smoked ribs to enjoy with a glass of Alamos Cabernet Sauvignon.
The other options were equally impressive, with the classic Surf and Turf coming with a glass of Cranswick Estate Shiraz and the Pan-Fried Sea Bass nestling up with a glass of Beringer Stone Cellar Chardonnay.
Sweet Ending was the aptly named dessert and proved to be a pear poached in red wine and topped with vanilla ice cream – could there be a more satisfying end to the meal? Wine diners left with full bellies and full souls.
