SPCA Selangor needs foster volunteers!
Seventy dogs of all sizes and lovely temperaments need temporary safe havens for the next 3 months. SPCA’s shelter is being demolished to make way for a new centre, and the site must be cleared by 2nd September.
Can you help?
Foster Programme
What they need
Can you provide a safe haven for one or two dogs?
If you cannot keep a dog in your home, can you help by supporting dogs somewhere else?
SPCA will start a buddy system so that dogs can be supported by a couple of foster “aunties” and “uncles” if necessary.
What does a foster auntie/uncle do?
Fostering means you take on the care and rehabilitation of one or two dogs on a temporary basis.
These dogs are all capable of finding loving permanent homes but for various reasons have not been adopted yet.
You and your buddies would be responsible for feeding, exercising, socializing and building the confidence of the dog and giving lots of TLC (Tender Loving Care).
SPCA will provide veterinary assistance if needed, and advice and support on training and helping the dogs to become good citizens.
SPCA will continue to promote their dogs on their social media’s, and when there is a possible adopter, they will either arrange for them to come and visit the dog at your home, or they will bring the dog to meet the new people.
Of course, if at any time you choose to adopt a dog yourself, you can.
The next 3 months are critical as SPCA’s current site will be demolished to make way for a new centre. By December, they hope to have some temporary kennelling at SPCA temporary HQ, but fostering will be on-going.
SPCA will begin organising the dogs with foster families on Saturday and Sunday (31st August/1st September). If you are able to do this special work for them, let them know (through email or text message) and come along on Saturday for a briefing and to choose your first foster furkid.
