There are several awesome video streaming services in the United States, which unfortunately aren’t available in Malaysia. We’re not exactly sure why these companies haven’t entered markets like Malaysia, but it does seem these video services can help tackle piracy. Even with Malaysia’s Astro being a full-fledged video service provider with powerful products, like Astro B.yond, the service still doesn’t offer as much breadth and immediacy for content as compared to the giant video streaming services in the United States. Unfortunately, it remains unclear when these video streaming services will officially come to Malaysia.
In the mean time, this is how to watch blocked and region-locked online TV shows and movies in Malaysia.
Hola Unblocker
Enter Hola Unblocker. This plug-in provides you access to US-based video content websites, like Hulu and Netflix. Hola Unblocker represents an easier way to access these video streaming service websites in Malaysia rather than re-configuring your DNS or tunnelling through a VPN.
Once you activate Hola Unblocker, you can start visiting these streaming content websites. Hulu offers both free and premium content. You can immediately start watching the free content, but if you want the premium version, you’ll need to pay. For Netflix, there is no free version, so you’ll need to pay for this service. Both of these companies offer premium streaming video services priced at $US 7.99 (~ RM26.00). Additionally, both services offer a free trial before you decide to commit. Fortunately, the payment systems don’t require your billing address, so you can open accounts using a Malaysian credit card.
In addition to Hulu and Netflix, you can access other streaming services, like Pandora’s selection of music.
Get Hola Unblocker here for free on the Chrome Extension Store or on Mozilla Firefox add-on page.

You can use a VPN for this. Here is the list of Best VPNs which you can use to unblock Hulu, Netflix and all other restricted channels. http://www.vpnranks.com/watch-hulu-outside-us/
To access Netflix while overseas you need to by-pass Netflix’s blocking mechanisms by using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Using a VPN makes Netflix think you’re still in your lounge room rather than out of the country.
VPN is the simplest, fastest, and most secure for watching Netflix overseas.
If you want to watch Netflix outside USA right now, get VPN from http://vpncomparison.weebly.com/
Thanks for sharing! For Malaysian people, we can buy cheap Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO and many streaming TV/Movie from https://www.izzudrecoba.com/
I bought several account from https://www.izzudrecoba.com/ such as SlingTV, Xfinity TV, WWE Network, and never look back to ASTRO 🙂
Thanks for the article. I personally use the UnoTelly DNS option. It’s ideal for content streaming because unlike VPNs, there is no internet speed loss when using it.
Thanks for sharing bro. Very informative.
There is a seller that sell 1 year Netflix account for only RM60 🙂

This isn’t working with Netflix!
Another option you can try is http://www.unblock-us.com/. It’s free for the first week, then US$ 5 per month. Not to get too techie, but this service is not a VPN – it’s a DNS unblocker. Basically, a DNS unblocker is easier to setup than a VPN. However, a DNS unblocker is not as good for privacy protection as a VPN is. More details about the between the two can be read here: http://vpn-services.bestreviews.net/dns-unblocking-service-unblock-us-vs-vpn-services/
One suggestion is just to enable the DNS unblocker when you want to access the region blocked site and then disable it for regular browsing.
This is so simple…and awesome 🙂 Thanks
Glad to hear.
Thanks for the awesome find, Hola Unblocker seems pretty useful for viewing these sites on a browser!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Glad it helped!
