You may have noticed Google’s creative doodles on their home page above the search box. May times they appeal, inspire and even entertain the search engine’s users around the world.
The latest Google doodle, as in right now, is for Doctor Who fans and is also very entertaining for all doodles that the internet giant had created so far. The Doctor Who doodle is an epic multi-play game that features all eleven incarnations of Doctor Who, who has managed to garner millions of fans in the UK and around the world.
Celebrating Doctor Who
This special doodle, which happens to be a 8-bit platform game based on Doctor Who, is to celebrate 50 years of the Timelord’s existence. For those of you who don’t know what we are talking about, Doctor Who is the leading character – a humanoid in the popular science fiction television drama called Doctor Who, which was created by Sydney Newman and produced by the BBC. The show is considered as one of the finest of British television series, with close to 800 episodes being made with eleven different actors portraying Doctor Who through generations.
For the Special Who
Earlier this year, Change.org had a petition that demanded a Doctor Who doodle be created to celebrate 50 years of the fictional character’s existence. Google has not confirmed if the multi-play platform game designed by Matt Cruickshank, a Doctor Who fan from the UK, is the result of that petition. But it sure did a good job of bringing the game to users just in time for the anniversary celebrations.
It is the largest interactive game doodle used by Google and it took the team around 4 -months to develop it. The doodle was also showcased at the Googleplex Mountain View, where it was nicknamed the “Whodle”.
Google’s doodle game
Doctor Who doodle is an 8-bit multi-play game, in which you get to choose a Doctor Who incarnation you wish to be. The goal in the game is to collect all the letters in the word “Google” by travelling to different worlds in the doctor’s TARDIS, which looks like a blue British police box. During the hunt for the alphabets, you must be careful not to bring Doctor Who in contact with the robot, or you could end up getting him killed.
There is no time limit for the game, but the sooner you collect all the letters the higher your score would be. In all, the doodle is a real treat to all Doctor Who fans.
