No Water Tankers for Areas Experiencing Water Rationing

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

If you live in one of the areas under the current water rationing situation, don’t expect any water tankers to come to the rescue. This will only happen if it is a critical situation.

According to the corporate communications and public affairs department assistant general manager of Syarikat Bekala Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas), water tankers will only be sent if there is a critical situation, like a funeral, and to places of importance such as dialysis centres, hospitals and welfare homes.

So, it is best to store as much water as you can, and use it wisely. Watering the plants and washing your porch can wait for the time being.

The first phase of water rationing affected 71 areas with 60,185 houses when it started on 27 February. This was because of the closure of the 11th Mile Cheras and Bukit Tampoi Water Treatment Plants due to high content of ammonia in Sungai Langat.

The second phase of water rationing was carried out last Sunday, 3 March. This was implemented following the reduction of raw water by 200 million litres per day from the Sungai Selangor Dam, which involves 260 areas with 413,617 households.

Are you affected by the water rationing? Have a look at this list of areas from the Second phase.
