Reggae Pop band UB40 are returning to Malaysia this month, performing a string of their worldwide hits at their upcoming concert. Visiting the country for the second time, the band performs at an exclusive one-night only show on April 9, and the event promises to be a memorable one indeed.
Taking place at KL Live @ Life Centre, doors open at 7.30pm and the much anticipated show starts at 8.30pm. Tickets are priced at RM158 for lower tier tickets and RM258 for upper tier tickets, for a concert that will take fans through the band’s biggest hits of the ‘80s and ‘90s.
“We’re very much looking forward to our trip to Malaysia, and are very excited about performing there,” said Ali Campbell, frontman for UB40. “We’re also looking forward to getting some sunshine, and just being in the country again, the people are so friendly and we had a lovely time the last time we were here.”
Having sold over 70 million records, UB40 is one of the most commercially successful reggae acts of all time, best known for their smash hits Red Red Wine, Can’t Help Falling In Love, Here I Am, Kingston Town and I Got You Babe. The band’s album, “Who You Fighting For”, was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2006, under the Reggae category. All three of their UK number one hits and four of their five U.S. top 10 hits have been cover versions. During their three-decade long career, UB40 have performed at sell-out shows worldwide and headlined the Reggae Sunsplash music festival in Jamaica.
Named after a British unemployment benefit form, pop-reggae band UB40 were formed in 1978, and their multiracial line-up reflected the working-class community their members came from. The band consolidated its street credibility with political topics appealing to the younger generation, and a feel-good reggae vibe that transcended barriers.
