On the 4th of June, after days of searching for the missing British volunteer, police stumbled upon a body floating in a pond near a kayak storage unit on the grounds of the Juara Turtle Project campsite. This is where the 34-year old was volunteering before he disappeared on the 27th of May. It was difficult to identify the body as it was decomposed. Huntley’s mother, Jane Southwell, was flown over to Kuantan’s Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital to help identify the body and also to provide blood samples to assist with the DNA testing.
No injuries were found on Huntley’s body, but police are currently investigating deeper to find out the cause of death.
