Two areas in Kedah; Kampung Alor Besar and Taman Sri Kota were hit by a landspout two days ago.
The heavy rain and strong winds that took place in Kuala Kedah on the 14th of October helped form a landspout. A landspout is similar to a waterspout which happens over water.
The Meteorology department confirmed that the incident that damaged a school’s computer lab, ripped off the roofs of five houses and damaged another building was a landspout that happens when there are strong winds.
The landspout reportedly lasted for about a minute. No one was reported to have been injured in the incident that took place at about 4.30pm.
