The Malaysian Cabinet may abolish the visa requirement for Chinese tourists, instead of the earlier plan to merely waive the fee of 80 yuan (RM46).
The Tourism and Culture and Home ministries will prepare a proposal on the possibility of abolishing the visa requirement, which will be presented at a Cabinet meeting.
“It will be the first matter on the agenda,” said Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz. “I will be presenting the case from the tourism perspective while (Home Minister) Datuk Seri Zahid (Hamidi) will handle the se¬curity matters.”
The reason, according to the minister, was for Malaysia to be more aggressive in wooing tourists from China.
