Yes, you read that right. There might be a Hooters restaurant in Malaysia in the future.
According to Business Wire, international Hooters franchisee Destination Resorts Co. announced their expansion strategy where they plan to open up to 30 restaurants, in various locations in Southeast Asia, over the next six years. After the launch of Hooters Phuket a year ago, the international company has expressed interest in opening a Hooters franchise in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia and more. Hooters first venture into Asia was in Singapore, in December 1996.
“The moment the doors opened to Hooters Phuket we realized the tremendous opportunity to greatly broaden our efforts to develop the Hooters brand across Asia,” said Gary Murray, CEO, Destination Resorts Co. “We pride ourselves on introducing fresh, exciting concepts to our guests, and the unparalleled Hooters dining experience fits that profile.”
There are about 430 Hooters outlets in 28 countries. The restaurant is well known for its famous Hooters Style chicken wings, the fun and one-of-a-kind hospitality and, of course, the Hooters girls.

I watched the Wierdest Restaurant documentary recently and amazed with the innovations. Our F&B landscape should explore new concepts to break the routine and boredom.
Hooters girls barely clad in KL. Undertone of attracting the wrong clientele. I doubt the Government would approve of this.
I’ll be surprised if this gets through.
