The movie adaptation of the controversial Fifty Shades of Grey book is officially banned in Malaysia.
If you don’t already know, Fifty Shades of Grey is an erotic novel written by E.L.James and is part of the Fifty Shades trilogy. The story centres on the relationship between a college graduate Anastasia Steele and a young, tormented, billionaire Christian Grey.
Fifty Shades of Grey has, according to Wikipedia, topped the best-seller lists around the world. The series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide.
The movie adaption stars Jamie Dornan, who starred in the popular tv series, Once Upon a Time, as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. Johnson also acted in The Social Network, 21 Jump Street, Need for Speed and more.
According to Variety, the movie was originally scheduled to be released in Malaysia on the 12th of February, before local distributor United International Pictures announced that the movie will no longer be showing in Malaysia.
