The health office in Beluran, a small town and district in the Sandakan Division, in the east of Sabah, has issued a ban on the sale of drinking water, in an effort to control the spread of cholera.
According to Beluran District Health Officer Dr Roddy Teo, investigations and monitoring of food samples carried out in the area of Beluran led to the discovery of a cholera infection from the sale of iced drinking water.
Restaurants, food stalls, hawker stalls and Sunday markets in the entire Beluran district are banned from selling iced drinking water.
