What brought you to Malaysia?
Work for a 2-3 year assignment. We are into the second year now.
What do you like and dislike about living here?
Like most people will say, the people here are certainly likeable, while the work challenges and close proximity to neighbouring countries was also a draw for me to move to Malaysia. What I dislike the most is the travel time between Malaysia and Texas.
Name three typical weekend activities that you enjoy.
During the weekends I like spending time with my wife, Leslie. I also enjoy a round of golf and going to the church.
Describe a memorable eating experience you have had here.
One of my favourite restaurants is South Sea Seafood restaurant in Shah Alam. The food here is excellent and they also have a wine tasting room so you can sample a new wine before ordering or matching it with your meal.
What do you miss most about your home country?
Closeness to family and friends back home.
What advice do you have for a newly-arrived expat?
No matter where you move, whether international or home country, give yourself six months to get accustomed to where the coffee pot is located and a full year before you really start to feel settled.
