Another enjoyable and convivial wine dinner took place recently at the cosy Bangsar Shopping Centre outlet of Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant, a consistent favourite when it comes to authentic, tasty Bavarian food. Guests got their appetites going right upon arrival with pass-around hors d’oeuvres, including honey-glazed chicken fillet, pork curry sausage, bacon spread canapés, and vegetable pizza bites, served with a crisp Circus Sauvignon Blanc wine, an excellent aperitif.
Once seated, diners enjoyed a seafood starter of salmon spread accompanied by smoked salmon, tuna, and shrimp, and paired with a second Sauvignon Blanc, this one from Le Val. The starter was followed by a warm and satisfying onion soup with cheese dumplings, which was just as well-received as the salmon spread.
For the main course, diners enjoyed Brotzeit’s beautifully presented trio of Bavarian-style pork belly, pork roast, and pork medallions, served on sautéed spinach with mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes, and finger-shaped potato dumplings. Comments were very positive, and the empty plates being sent back underscored the delicious flavours of Chef Helmut’s culinary efforts. The main course was paired beautifully by a very nice Argentinian Malbec.
Finally, the dessert plate arrived, a lovely apricot parfait with stanitzel and chocolate flan with vanilla sauce, a triumphant conclusion to an excellent meal, this course accompanied by a Le Val Pinot Noir. Guests left very satisfied and impressed with the quality and authenticity of the German food, and we extend our thanks to the team at Brotzeit!
