3 cool bands playing live in Kuala Lumpur this week, 7th January 2016
The end of the first week of January is drawing near and what better way to mark surviving the first working week of 2016 than to spend a night out with friends, enjoy good drinks and excellent live music? Here’s a list of three bands playing live around Kuala Lumpur this week:
1. JUNY Brothers feat. Gabriel Lynch
Alexis Bistro Ampang, Great Eastern Mall, 303 Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur
8th & 9th January 2016, 10pm
This musical duo, consisting of Jupiter 7 and Fatboy “Tony” Parker, is a live performance group that contributes to most of today’s Malaysian hip hop music. They have collaborated with some of Malaysia’s biggest artists, such as Joe Flizzow, SonaOne and Najwa Mahiaddin.
Their first song, ‘After The Rain’ featuring Najwa Mahiaddin, had a quarter of a million viewers on YouTube in less than a week and their JL29 LIVE arrangement used for Joe Flizzow and SonaOne’s “Apa Khabar” won ‘Song of The Year’ in 2015.
Gabriel Lynch, an Australian vocalist, is known for his unique songwriting and soulful tracks. Lynch has a tight and hectic schedule, as he has been travelling around the globe for six years, performing his music with a style so original, it is hard to forget.

2. Rock N Rolla

10th January 2016, 10.30pm
Adi (Keyboards & Vocal), Hasnol (Guitar & Vocal), B (Guitar & Vocal), Amir (Bass & Vocal), Junk (Drums & Vocal) make up Rock N Rolla, a rock band based in Kuala Lumpur, performs for the Hard Rock Café every Sunday night. They play a variety of rock songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & 00’s and venture into other musical styles if the crowd demands it.

3. S.O.A.P. (Son Of A Policeman)

Today (7th January 2016), 9pm
SOAP, consisting of members Josh (Vocals & Guitar), Tan (Vocals & Bass), Axl (Lead Guitar), and Blake (Keyboards, Guitars & Vocals), is a gypsy pop band or ‘indie rojak’ as they call it. Their music has many influences from smooth jazz to R&B and heavy-hitting rock. They also try to keep their lyrics local and relevant to the audience.
SOAP is performing alongside other musical performers, Take Two, Chirin Chirin, and Nadir at Laundry.
