This post is brought to you in part by Fine & Country.
The Eastern & Oriental Hotel Penang is the venue for the second Portugal Property & Investment seminar to be held in Malaysia on Friday, 26 February, 2016, starting at 5:30pm.
Following the success of the last event held in KL on 28 November, law firm Antonio Viñal & Cº, who have offices in Malaysia and Portugal, have once again teamed up with international estate agents Fine & Country.
The seminar will be an opportunity for local and expat residents of Penang to learn about the tax and residency benefits offered by the Portuguese government, specifically the Non Habitual Residence (NHR) tax regime and the ‘Golden Visa’.
NHR status can be gained by individuals of all nationalities, including European passport holders, and there is no minimum investment required in order to qualify.
For non-European nationals, Portugal has the so-called Golden Visa whereby an individual investing at least 500,000 euros in real estate can gain Portuguese residency, enabling free movement throughout Schengen agreement countries.
The visa is extendable to family members (children and spouse) with the possibility of acquiring Portuguese passports after six years.
The event starts at 5.30pm and guests will be served light refreshments, along with Portuguese wines.
