3 live performances in Klang Valley this week, 4th February 2016
Every week we’ll be bringing you the best of the Malaysian music scene. Keep your finger on the pulse with this rundown of four live acts performing in Klang Valley in the next few days.
1. Markiza & Peter Brown
Gaslight Cafe & Music, Unti 15-2, Jalan Medan Setia 1, Plaza Damansara
5th February 2016, 8.30pm
Markiza and Peter have been performing and recording in Malaysia and England for many years. They have released eight albums together such as ‘Open Secret’ and ‘Love and Music’ in the 90s, and singles like Polar Bear and Ecopocalypse recently. Their style can be compared to the likes of Joni Mitchell and REM.
They are sometimes joined by guitarist Wong Lip Kee, who has been helping with their latest recording project; a series of songs about different social issues, such as refugees, justice, human rights and the threat to the environment and vulnerable species.

2. Dasha Logan
Mezze Wine Bar & Bistro, 132, Jalan Kasah, Medan Damansara
6th February 2016, 9.30pm
Daughter of the legendary Loganathan Arumugam from the Alleycats, Dasha Logan has been exposed to the music scene since birth – and, at the age of just 4, she began to fall in love with performing. At the age of 17, she was offered her first singing gig, and she has never stopped performing live since.
Her passion for jazz, funk, soul and R&B can truly be seen whenever she performs.

3. Cats In Love
The Bee, 36B, Level G2, Publika, Solaris Dutamas
6th February 2016, 9.30pm
Cats In Love consists of Lohan (vocals and guitar), Zedes (bass), Wong (keyboards), and Reuben (drums / percussion). With a heavy influence of rock from the 60s and 70s, the band also plays blues, rock n’ roll, and pop.
Other popular influences include Led Zeppelin, The Darkness, The Beatles, Deep Purple, The Cranberries, and even Norah Jones. They are in the midst of releasing their debut album, ‘No Paws For Regret’ and are promoting it with this tour.
