The chief executive officer of Malaysia Airlines Berhad, Christoph Mueller, will leave his job in September, having only just taken the role last year.
The new head of the struggling national airline carrier was originally supposed to be at MAS for three years. The German said in a statement that this his departures was due to personal matters, according to Malay Mail Online.
Mueller said he was happy that his work with company has already begun to show signs of success and he was confident the next generation of MAS would continue to rebound.
“I am confident that the company is now on the right track to succeed in its next phase of growth under a new CEO. I remain fully committed to do everything possible to facilitate the continuing turnaround of Malaysia Airlines.”
– Christoph Mueller, outgoing CEO of Malaysia Airlines Berhad
Mueller has expressed his intention to stay with MAS as its non-executive director and that he will continue to manage existing strategic decisions. The airline has begun its search for a replacement for Mueller.

Mueller’s view on MAB large numbers of inefficient suppliers was widely published as well. Likely that he hit resistance in dismantling the politically connected ones similar to Proton and called it a day when the govt failed to back him up
