Former Miss Malaysia World (1991) and actress, Samantha Schubert, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer last night.
In her career, Samantha has modelled in over 30 television commercials and several print advertisements. Following a successful career as a model, Samantha ventured into acting and starred in three movies; Red Scorpion 2, The Red Kebaya, and Amok, as well as a number of local stage productions.
There has been an outpouring of grief from friends and fans online, mourning the 47 year old’s death, offering condolences to her family.
Marina Mahathir’s post on Facebook, ‘Rest in peace Samantha Schubert, too young to go’, echoes the sentiment shared by many others over the death of the 47-year-old mother of three. On her website, Samantha was described by fellow model Asha Gill as having a ‘gentle strength’.
Samantha is survived by her mother, husband, and three children; Harry, Jodie, and Thomas.
Samantha’s mother, Datuk Dr. Paddy Bowie OBE, is a well known author and political analyst. She is one of very few British citizens to be granted Malaysian citizenship.
Dr. Bowie has written, on a number of occasions, for TEG (The Expat Group). You can read her articles here. TEG sends our condolences to all of Samantha’s family and friends.
