Headed by Ms Stephanie Jukes Wilson and Dr Jeffrey Rowlands, over 100 students from Year 7 to Year 13 participated in acting, backstage work, ticket design, painting, and prop-making for Tenby Schools Ipoh’s recent full-scale production of Peter Pan, the Musical by David Barrett.Work began on the production before Christmas last year and finally was shown in performance this term. As Ms Stephanie wanted to get as many students involved as possible, the project took six months from conception to performance, with around half of that involving solid, hard work in rehearsals with the students.
Following on from the school’s vision and mission of showing how the arts and music transcend ethnic, religious, and class differences, Stephanie added, “It is great to achieve this and to also show how the arts transcend age.”
Last year, Tenby Schools Ipoh hosted the inaugural Tenby Music Festival, which brought musicians from all Tenby campuses together. This year the campuses will collaborate in another full-scale musical performance, Carmina Burana at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in KLCC on 8th May 2016.
