Year 12 student, Adam Khalid, from the Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) was recently flown by Renault to Melbourne, Australia to attend the Australian Grand Prix under the F4 SEA Driver Development Program.

The program provides young drivers with training, career information and guidance through assessments of skill and ability and prepares them for Formula 1 Racing.

During his time at the Australian Grand Prix, Adam was able to rub shoulders with big names in the F1 racing arena such as Kimi Raikinen, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso, and Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo. He was also briefed on how the Renault Sport Academy develops their drivers to race in Formula 1.

Under the F4 SEA Driver Development Program, Adam will undergo specialised training that will require him to record consistent lap timings and race results to assess his potential on the track. If all goes well, Adam will progress through the ranks up to Formula 1.

To be selected for this program is indeed a stepping stone to a successful career in motorsport for Adam. “I am hoping for a good season this year and feel very thankful to be doing what I love,” says Adam, who gives credit to his family, friends, and teachers at AISM for the tremendous support he has received.
