Christoph Mueller to leave Malaysia Airlines two months earlier than planned as new CEO is appointed
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has just appointed a new CEO to take over from outgoing Christoph Mueller starting today, 1st July. Mueller handed in his resignation earlier this year and was supposed to step down in September, but this was brought forward once Peter Bellew was appointed.
Bellew, an Irishman, was the COO of MAS before this and worked closely with Mueller in the restructuring of the airline. Chairman of Malaysia Aviation Group Berhad (MAG) and Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB), Tan Sri Md Nor Md Yusof noted that Bellews has been invaluable in the past 10 month during the transformation process and that the appointment will pave the way for the airline’s continued success.
In the same statement by Malaysia Airlines, it was stated that Mueller will continue to be “available to the company until the end of his notice period to ensure a smooth transition”.
Peter Bellews shared news of his appointment on his personal Instagram account:
