School snaps: Penang teachmeet at POWIIS

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

On the evening of Wednesday 8th June, 57 teachers from international schools around Penang met at the Prince of Wales Island International School to take part in the first ever Penang TeachMeet!

A TeachMeet is an informal unconference by teachers, for teachers, in a style that has become very popular in the UK. It is an informal gathering of those curious about using technologies for learning and is suitable for teachers of all levels and experience. It isn’t about promoting products; it is about sharing ideas that have been used and applied within the classroom in a relaxed and supportive environment. The recent

advances in technology have opened up exciting collaborative and interactive teaching opportunities and it is our responsibility to ensure our students experience the best of them.

There were 16 mini-sessions given by willing volunteers from a variety of schools. The event was a great success due to the wide variety of innovative and exciting ideas presented but also as it gave teachers from across Penang the opportunity to network and discuss teaching and learning issues.

To find out more information about this event, including information on the presentations, and to find out about future Penang TeachMeets, please use the hashtag #PenangTeachMeet, tweet @TLPOWIIS, or email ejp@ powiis.edu.my.
