This post is brought to you in part by Prince of Wales Island International School (POWIIS).
The Prince of Wales Island International School (POWIIS) was established in September 2011 and has grown to over 450 students. With its ideals firmly rooted in the British education system, POWIIS emphasises that academic endeavour is fundamental and provides an environment where all children are treated as individuals.
At POWIIS, a happy and wholesome environment helps children to learn. An effective pastoral system supports students, with every student having their personal tutor. The tutor monitors academic progress and takes responsibility for the overall well-being of the student. Tutors meet with their tutees each day, and at least once a week will discuss overall progress, providing encouragement and advice.
Fabulous facilities
The campus has been built to modern specifications, with specialised facilities available for Art, Design Technology, Science, Information Technology, and Sport. Students who have a passion for music or the performing arts will be happy to hear that POWIIS has a 500-seat auditorium, along with a multi-purpose hall, a recital room, a dance studio, and a drama studio – all appropriate venues for one to practise and perform.
All classrooms are equipped with SmartBoards to support learning at all levels, whilst the university-style library encourages and facilitates individual study. Sixth formers also have a dedicated sixth form centre where they are able to relax.
