Thirty ‘Scholaroos’ from the Australian International School Malaysia made their way to the Johor Bahru Regional Round of theWorld Scholar’s Cup (WSC) held at the Raffles American School last weekend. The event saw strong competition from participants of schools from Malaysia and the South East Asia region including Indonesia and Singapore.
The scholars compete in teams of three in a variety of academic pursuits including debate, essay writing, and examinations. All of their hard work resulted in success with the AISM Team bringing home 24 trophies and 297 medals, with each student winning at least four medals and two students winning 16 medals each. AISM also won Overall Champion (Junior Division Team) as well as in the
Top Debater (Senior Division) category. One Year 9 student, Erja Suhaimy, was also crowned Top Scholar Award (Junior Division) across all competitions and was given the honour of speaking in the Showcase Debate.
