The inaugural Intermediate Music Festival hosted by the British International School of Kuala Lumpur included a choir, orchestra, and jazz band, led by renowned musicians Chi Hoe Mak, Eugene Pook, and Scott Murphy.
Over 190 students from 11 schools across Southeast Asia took part in the event, which consisted of full rehearsals and sectionals and culminated in an impressive concert beyond their intermediate playing level.
The students enjoyed other activities, including a trip to ‘Jump Street’ trampoline park and a Gamelan concert, performed by Malaysian fusion group ‘Rhythm in Bronze’. The festival was a success due to the positive attitude of all of the students and they, in return, saw their playing ability soar. Students also enjoyed making new friends and building on their confidence.
