Grade 5 students at Excelsior International School culminated their IPC unit about water “Go with the Flow” with an exciting boat race. Throughout their studies in this unit, students learned that rivers play a vital role in shaping the geography of our planet, providing nutrients, habitats, and transport for people, plants, and animals, and also supplying us with energy to power machinery and generate electricity. Students learned that rivers really are one of our most precious resources. To complete the unit, students studied river transportation and designed their own boats for a river crossing. The children worked hard and reflected on their designs, making modifications where necessary. Teachers manned the boats and raced across the pool.
