Out with the Great Gatsby do’s and in with the new party themes, am I right? Shake things up this year with themes that are not yet overdone, or can never be (in our humble opinion). Admittedly, most if not all are geared towards being Instagrammable (or photo-ready), because beautiful matters. Whatever the occasion, check out this list of party themes to explore in 2018 while they’re still piping hot, and cool.
Millennial mayhem
Hashtags, unicorns, memes, and all kinds of internet speak, really. Hipster is the new black, and it’s here to stay, too. Let your inner millennial shine as you party like a glamour gang would. Pick up accessories like rings with hashtags or anything with unicorns on them, and have a photo booth area with similarly-branded props. Avocados have to be in the menu (kale is optional), as does a unicorn cake, and anything that will look good on Instagram. Remember to create a unique hashtag for your party too, so the Insta-bragging can really take off.
Superhero for a day (or night)
Considering that the next Avengers, Deadpool, and Ant-Man movies are being released this year, I’d say it’s a pretty good time to throw a superhero-themed party. Little touches like logos on cupcakes, colour-themed food and drinks, and props guests can pick up and add on to their ensemble, will be appreciated. If your friends are geeky enough, you could even specify which faction to follow (DC or MCU).
Fitness fanatics
Living a healthy lifestyle is becoming the priority for more and more people, so eating out can get tricky at times. Why not throw a healthy party for all your fit and health conscious friends? They’re sure to appreciate it! Some food ideas include the ever-healthy hummus, picture perfect acai bowls, or frozen yoghurt treats, while the drinks could be smoothies made with fruit, vegetable and nuts; or fruit-infused water. ‘Game’ ideas could include team-based fitness challenges in the format of station training.
Brunching buddies
Because who doesn’t love brunch? Bring out the usual suspects – eggs, bacon, muffins, pancakes, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes; whatever brunch means to you really. For added pizzaz, pop open some Champagne bottles and turn it into a bubbly affair.
Cheers to the Rosé
We’re only entering the fourth month this year and already so many rosé drink products have been released. From the timeless Moët Rosé Impérial to a rosé cider, the time to drink pink is now. Naturally, the pink theme can be applied to the overall party – strawberry pudding, raspberry pie, sakura blossoms; you get the picture.
What are some party themes you’re itching to try this year?
