Malaysian TV personality and actor Henry Golding has been making waves in Hollywood recently with the highly-anticipated trailer of Crazy Rich Asians. Known in the local broadcasting and television scene, Golding has started to gain Hollywood’s attention, with two other movies – Monsoon and A Simple Favour – set to be released this year. His latest milestone was his appearance The Ellen Degeneres Show, where he spoke on Crazy Rich Asians along with Fresh Off The Boat star Constance Wu.

Crazy Rich Asians is based on a novel by Kevin Kwan, where Nick Young (Golding) takes his girlfriend, Rachael Chu (Wu) back to his hometown in Singapore for his best friend’s wedding, where Rachael gets to meet his family. Here’s the trailer for the movie, which is set to be released in theaters on 17 August.

The pair have also made it on the cover of Entertainment Weekly in the US.

The Iban-British actor from Sarawak was formerly a host on talk show The 8TV Quickie, and documentaries Welcome To The Railworld Japan (8TV) and Surviving Borneo (Discovery Channel Asia).

His other movie, Monsoon, is a tale of a British-Vietnamese man, Kit, who returns to Saigon after 30 years, where he fled during the Vietnam-American War. Meanwhile, A Simple Favour, which also stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, is a crime-thriller where mommy-vlogger Stephanie (Kendrick), takes it upon herself to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily’s sudden disappearance from their small town.
