Welcome to ISKL’s NEW Ampang Hilir Campus!
For over 50 years, The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) has championed a holistic approach to education. Firmly rooted in our charter as a parent-owned and parent-governed institution, ISKL is one of the unique few non-profit international schools in Kuala Lumpur. In short, ISKL is built upon a legacy that shapes us as an institution of educational excellence.
Our longstanding commitment to educational excellence has consistently delivered on the promise of our Mission, to provide “an exceptional education that challenges each student to develop the attitudes, skills, knowledge, and understanding to become a highly successful, spirited, and socially responsible global citizen”. In order to continue to offer a world-class education for subsequent generations, ISKL has embarked on an aggressive plan of growth, building a new, world-class educational facility in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. As Winston Churchill once put it “We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.”
The new ISKL campus, which is anticipated to open in August 2018, once again unites all grades, from our Early Childhood program to our High School students engaged in Advanced Academic and University Preparatory programmes. The campus is set on approximately 26 acres of land in Ampang Hilir and will have facilities that are unique to the landscape of other international schools in Kuala Lumpur and the region.
So, what are these distinguishing elements to further our Mission?
Location
ISKL’s new campus sits squarely in the heart of the Embassy district of Kuala Lumpur. While most international schools sit outside of Kuala Lumpur city limits, the Ampang Hilir campus is very close to the city center. The campus sits in the middle of the school’s catchment area and is also easily accessible from most of the greater metro area.
Community
We are thankful to be a part of the fabric of Kuala Lumpur and will continue to support the community we call home for years to come. The Center for Performing Arts, with four distinct elements, will showcase local and regional events that serve the needs of community well beyond that of ISKL. Included in this complex will be a purpose-built 650 seat Performance Theatre, an Atrium Amphitheatre, and plans for further construction of a Concert Recital Hall and Black Box Theatre. Whether it is the school’s extensive annual Professional Development offerings, or hosting events in the new Performing Arts center, the intention is that the new Ampang Hilir campus will serve as an education hub for the region.
Sustainability
ISKL is committed to sustainable practice in all that it does and has designed the new campus to reflect that ethos. As a result, the new facility is designed to achieve Platinum Level Green Building Index (GBI) designation and will be the first school in Malaysia to achieve such a status for environmentally sustainable concepts.
Facilities
From world-class science labs, thoughtful classrooms, art facilities, and two libraries, the school also includes flexible spaces designed to incorporate the latest in teaching and learning concepts. With extensive playing fields, a regulation track, two gymnasia, and tennis courts, the new campus is adorned with superb sport facilities. In addition, the standout Aquatics Complex includes one 50-meter competition pool, a 25-meter daily activity pool, and a learn-to-swim pool for young learners.
It is our goal that ISKL’s new Ampang Hilir Campus will further our ability to deliver exceptional international education within a richly diverse learning environment. It is intended to bring out the best in each and every student.
ISKL is now accepting applications for the 2018 – 2019 school year and anticipates welcoming students to the new campus in August, 2018.
