Continuing its long history of excellence in education, The International School of Penang (Uplands) is proud to announce its accreditation by the Council of International Schools  (CIS), a global organisation committed to ensuring high-quality international education.

Uplands joins only 500 schools worldwide that hold CIS accredited status, which demonstrates the school’s dedication to providing students with the skills, knowledge and opportunities to thrive as 21st-century, global citizens.

Mr. Giles Mongare, Principal of The International School of Penang (Uplands), described the process as an opportunity for the School to focus on the quality of teaching and student learning, educational philosophy, as well as student safeguarding and well-being. “We are delighted to have received full accreditation by the Council of International Schools, which confirms the school’s commitment to its mission and the high-quality education it offers to students, families and the community..”

Following their visits to Uplands in December 2018, CIS wrote that: “In visits to classrooms, well prepared and resourced teachers, highly engaged and energetic students and teaching and learning that exemplified the school value of respect for everyone were observed..” The International School of Penang (Uplands) is the island’s first CIS Accredited School, which complements its status as Penang’s only International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) Authorised World School, as well as offering the IBO Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), and IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).
