Things are picking up again in the second month of the year (explaining the lateness of this post, sorry!); and while overseas travel may be restricted due to ongoing viral concerns, here are some local weekend events to keep you entertained and informed.

PasarBellas All Women Community Flea Market

This weekend market put together by and featuring independent businesswomen are from all walks of life is here to promote micro businesses and sustainability! Over 40+ vendors will be providing wares ranging from household items to beauty and food products, and supplies will be on hand for sanitary concerns at large events.

NO MAD – The Story of the Lifeboat Project

This live screening of a 45-minute documentary aims to bring awareness to the Non Take Marine Sanctuary in Coron, Philippines, the replanting of reefs with BioRock technology, and the combating of illegal fishing (using dynamite and cyanide). The Lifeboat Project works together with the government of the Philippines to make these initiatives in preserving the ocean happen, and the importance of the seas to the climate and life on Earth realised.

Living Library & Film Screening

A ‘living library’ is where you come to interact with people and learn their stories. This event brings together the refugee community living in Malaysia, and invites you to come for a casual conversation over coffee and snacks to learn about their life here. A special R.AGE documentary about James Bawi Thang Bik, a young activist who defied a policy that would have destroyed his community, will also be screened. Preloved is Reloved 2020
