‘Prom first. Think later.’ That’s the tagline of this dark new comedy from KL’s Pop Up Theatre!
KL’s very own Pop Up Theatre, which has been making waves with virtual ‘pop-up’ plays and saving us from total pandemic boredom, are back with a new summer production!
Writer, director, and international man of mystery Scott McQuaid and his team of talented Malaysian actors are bringing audiences everywhere some new laughs with this latest virtual play starting on June 5, 2021.
THE SYNOPSIS
This virtual dark comedy is exactly as the title suggests, only with more surprises woven into the play. The story begins when Seth, the guy with an axe, who invades a family home during prom night to hide. Teenager Nancy stresses about the most important night of her life while entertaining this axe-wielding stranger. Things become more complicated when Nancy’s mother, Cherie, and their obnoxious neighbour, Edgar, enter the scene. The
farcical situation heightens and the plot begins to unravel in this witty, silly, surreal R-rated comedy.
Actors Alexandria Tan (Nancy) and Sajjan (Seth) share a hilariously awkward but intense chemistry that both steal the show, and reward audiences with lots of laughs.
With a running time of 20 minutes, ‘My Prom Date, The Axe Murderer’ will be available worldwide from June 5. Ticket prices start at RM16.50 and can be purchased here.
