Expats and Malaysians alike get out their golf clubs and tee off for a great cause – with impressive results year after year!

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a condition that affects the brain and nerves. MND has no cure, but treatments exist to help reduce its impact on a person’s daily life.

MND Malaysia is a nonprofit organisation founded by medical professionals with a vision to realise a world without MND. Sadly, the supply of life-extending machines is inadequate to meet the increasing numbers of new patients each year.

But there is cause for hope.

Last year, in a display of both skill and heart, the Xpats Golf Community came together on the evening of October 15th, 2022, to host a fundraising competition that left a lasting impact. Their mission? To generously raise an impressive RM157,100 for MND Malaysia, a commendable feat that certainly deserves applause. An amazing 120 players took part (photo above), enjoying a fantastic day of golf and support an excellent cause.

The event was more than just a golfing competition, however; it was a night filled with fun, joy, excitement, and laughter. However, the highlight of the evening undoubtedly was the spirited auction bidding session. The crown jewel of the auction was an Augusta Masters Flag, adorned with the signatures of legends like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player, which fetched an astonishing RM21,000 from the highest bidder, Mr. Ken. A night to remember indeed!

A heartfelt thanks was extended to the entire dedicated team for orchestrating the fantastic success of the Xpats Golf Charity Dinner. Their golf community’s unwavering dedication and generous hearts shone brightly, supporting the noble cause of MND Malaysia. Special appreciation was also extended to Mr. Campbell for his masterful auction session and to Mr. Ken for his boundless compassion towards the MND Community.

THE UPCOMING XPATS GOLF CHARITY EVENT IN 2023

Building on the resounding success of their 2022 charity event, the Xpats Golf Community is gearing up for an even more spectacular event in 2023. Scheduled for November 3rd, 2023, at the Sungai Long Golf Club, this year’s event promises to be a remarkable continuation of their commitment to supporting MND Malaysia.

Since its inception in 2019, the Xpats Golf Community has made impressive strides in their fundraising efforts. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, they have consistently doubled their collection totals each year. The 2022 event marked a significant milestone, raising a whopping RM157,100, bringing their total contributions since 2019 to an outstanding RM270,400.

Their relentless dedication is inching them closer to surpassing the CSR donor record set in 2017. Under the leadership of Mr. Clive Gordon, the Xpats Golf Community is poised to achieve even greater heights, providing crucial resources to those most affected by Motor Neurone Disease (or ‘neuron’ in American English, for those wondering).

MND Malaysia is the grateful beneficiary of these charity events. As more people are diagnosed with this debilitating disease, the support and contributions from all walks of life are indispensable.
