The local carrier is one of five that will be operating single-aisle jet aircraft at Subang Airport.
Firefly, a subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), has officially launched its new era of jet operations at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (SZB), more commonly known as Subang Airport. Ticket sales for flights to Penang and Kota Kinabalu commenced on July 22, 2024.
In a statement, Firefly announced that passengers can enjoy promotional fares from Subang to Penang (PEN) and Kota Kinabalu (BKI) at RM129 and RM249 all-in one-way, respectively, for travel between August 29, 2024, and August 6, 2025. These fares include 10 kg of check-in baggage, 7 kg of carry-on baggage, and complimentary refreshments onboard.
Firefly’s new jet operations to Penang and Kota Kinabalu feature daily return flights on retrofitted Boeing 737-800s. These aircraft offer 189 economy seats with leather upholstery, device holders, and USB power outlets.
The jet operations enhance the existing 9x daily flights to Penang served by the ATR72, increasing the total number of flights between Penang and SZB to 10x daily.
With the introduction of jet services, Firefly has bolstered its presence at Subang, now offering over 2,100 weekly flights to eight destinations, combining both turboprop and jet services.
“Firefly’s introduction of jet operations from Subang represents a strategic enhancement to our network, complementing our existing ATR72 turboprop services and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity. We want to reassure passengers that our current ATR72 schedules will remain unaffected.
“This initiative highlights MAG’s commitment to expanding travel options and strengthening connectivity across our network,” said MAG Group Managing Director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail.
