Tourism Malaysia Welcomes Malaysia Airlines’ Inaugural Flight from Da Nang

The national carrier just launched a new route between Kuala Lumpur and Da Nang, Vietnam.

Tourism Malaysia was thrilled to welcome Malaysia Airlines’ inaugural flight MH749 from Da Nang, Vietnam, which touched down at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 at 1520 hrs on September 24th. The new route signifies a key development in enhancing connectivity between Malaysia and second-tier cities in Vietnam, opening new doors to attract more tourists while also expanding Malaysia Airlines’ network in Vietnam. This adds to the airline’s existing routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Tourism Malaysia officials, along with representatives from Malaysia Airlines Berhad and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), were on hand to greet the 150 passengers arriving on this maiden flight. Vietnam remains one of Malaysia’s primary target markets, alongside China, India, Indonesia, and Australia.

This new direct link between Da Nang and Kuala Lumpur reflects a strong partnership with Malaysia Airlines and supports the broader goals of the upcoming Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, which aims to welcome 35.6 million international visitors and generate RM147.1 billion in tourism revenue.

These flights will operate daily, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, each with a 180-passenger capacity.
