Thaipusam Road Closures in KL Starting Sunday

Nearly two dozen roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed or diverted in stages from February 9 for the Thaipusam chariot procession.

Over 20 roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed or diverted in stages starting Sunday, February 9, to accommodate the Thaipusam chariot procession.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa announced in a statement on Friday that the closures and diversions will begin at 9pm, as the chariot departs from Sri Maha Mariamman Temple on Jalan Tun H.S. Lee and makes its way to the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple in Batu Caves, Selangor.

The affected roads include Jalan Tun H.S. Lee, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Lebuh Ampang, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Belia, Jalan Sri Amar, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Perhentian, Jalan Ipoh Lama (Batu Lima), and Jalan Kepong Baru.

The return procession is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, at 3pm, following the same route.
