Pos Malaysia recently launched its first post box on Mount Kinabalu, at 3,289 metres above sea level at Pendant Hut, Laban Rata, which is reachable by a four to six hour climb from Kinabalu Park, Malaysia’s first World Heritage Site, also known as the main entrance to the majestic Mount Kinabalu.

The post box, Pos Malaysia’s 3,110th, was installed on the 8th of February and made it into the Malaysia Book of Records. On its very first day of installation, more than 100 postcards were posted through the Mt Kinabalu post box.

According to Communication and Multimedia deputy minister Datuk Jailani Johari, the 3,110th post box is higher compared to those on Mt Fuji, Japan and Jungfrau Swiss Alps, Switzerland.

A postman will climb Mt Kinabalu to collect letters and postcards from the post box at 12 noon every working day.
