1. Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, KL

Situated within walking distance from the National Art Gallery and the National Theatre, this park offers a scenic view of some nearby landmarks. The best time to cycle would be in the morning and or late evening. The land here is generally flat with wide open spaces, perfect for cyclists who are looking for recreation rather than a challenge.

2. Perdana Botanical Gardens, Kuala Lumpur

Measuring a colossal 96.1ha, the Lake Gardens (also known as Perdana Botanical Gardens) in Kuala Lumpur is located among many tourist attractions such as the National Monument, the National Museum, the Hibiscus and Orchid Garden, the KL Bird Park and KL Butterfly Park. You can also rent a bicycle instead of bringing your own. Built around an artificial lake, this park, which used to be called Lake Gardens, is a retreat at the heart of the city centre.

3. Botanical Gardens, Putrajaya

This garden doubles as Malaysia’s national sanctuary for its living collection of exotic floras. It is impossible to explore the entire garden on foot as it is pretty big. To illustrate, the garden consists of five different areas and in a cycling trip, you can expect to explore only one.

4. Wetland Park, Putrajaya

What was once an oil palm plantation is now a wetland park that functions as a wildlife sanctuary- with bicycle tracks provided. Cycle and soak in the wetland environment that also attracts terrestrial-aquatic wetland animals. Other than a bike, you can also rent a set of binoculars to ‘spy’ on the exotic birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Other attractions include flamingo ponds and bamboo forest.

5. Lake Gardens, Shah Alam

Get your exercise and a little sightseeing by touring the landmarks clustered around the man-made lakes in Shah Alam’s Lake Gardens. The city itself has interesting cycling lanes that keep you guessing what is around every corner. The cycling route connects many residential areas in the city and eventually leads to the garden itself.

6. FRIM, Kepong

The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) is the country’s largest secondary forest, and it has been said that the best way to explore it for the first time is on a bicycle. Bicycles will be available for rent, but you have the option to bring your own. The haven of flora and fauna at FRIM has remained untouched for over 80 years.

7. Kepong Metropolitan Park, KL

If you have children or you are still learning to get over your fear of cycling, head on over to the large, circular rubberized area near the fountain, as it is said to be safer. The rest can tackle the parks 3km long cycling track around the lake. Kite flying is also a favourite activity at this park.

8. Taman Jaya Park, Petaling Jaya

The Taman Jaya Park in Petaling Jaya is now an eco-mobility park thanks to its recent landscaping project. This means that the park’s cycling pavements not only connect the areas within the park, but also the surrounding neighborhoods and the nearby Taman Jaya LRT station. With such accessibility, cyling to and within the park is a breeze!

9. Taman Tasik Cyberjaya

Taman Tasik Cyberjaya is another favourite spot for cycling, especially among students studying in the nearby universities. You can also find a shady spot to relax and read a book.
