Ariana Eimer, a Year 6 student from the Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) made waves at the recent 2015 Putrajaya Cup National Championships Women Open Category in wakeboarding this month. The competition was held in conjunction with the National Sports Day on 10 October 2015.
Ariana, who has participated in several competitions before, was ecstatic to find out she came in second against her much older competitions, proudly taking home the silver medal. The competition also saw the participation of athletes from across the region including Singapore, Thailand, New Zealand, France, Britain, and the USA. This is Ariana’s first-ever medal won in wakeboarding.
This win has qualified the 11-year-old to compete in the 2015 Singha IWWF Waterski and Wakeboard Asian Championships representing Malaysia. She will compete with the Malaysian Team for the Open Women Category in the competition which will take place in Bangkok in early November. Previously, Ariana had competed in the IWWF Asian Oceanian Waterski Championship in Perth, Australia in October and the Waterski and Wakekeboard Open 2015 in Bandung, Indonesia, where she was the youngest competing athlete in the competition.
