Five students from Garden International School Kuala Lumpur (GISKL) were awarded the Pearson Edexcel Outstanding Learner Awards, in recognition of their outstanding performance and proven track record in certain subjects.
Clarissa Wang Ting Yan obtained the Highest Mark in Malaysia for Design & Technology A-level; Clarence Koo Mui Han was awarded the Highest Mark in Malaysia for Physical Education GCSE; Edmund Kua Jingbin and Eugene Kua Jingwen both received the Highest Mark in Malaysia for Chinese A-level and Sabrina Brouwers acquired the Highest Mark in Malaysia for Art & Design GCSE.
“I’m extremely pleased and I feel that hard work does pay off,” said Clarissa, who is currently studying interior design at Savannah College of Art and Design in Hong Kong. She acknowledged that the subject requires a lot of research, planning, and prioritising in order to excel, and she is grateful that her GISKL teachers gave her ample support and encouragement.
“Plan the time accordingly and work fast,” Clarissa advised. “Although that being said, there will always be late nights to meet deadlines, yet this could be a learning experience as it helps to show what it would be like in the real working world. As for the theory part, make notes and practise with lots of questions.”
